Who we are

Milee is a mobile app for couples and friend groups in long-distance relationships. Operated by: Milee (sole operator, pending company formation). Contact: contact@getmilee.app

1. What we collect

When you sign up: your email address.

When you set up your profile: display name, emoji or photo, home city, country, timezone.

When you use the app:

  • Status updates, mood entries, journal entries, private letters, photos you upload, countries visited.
  • Location (optional): only when you grant permission, used to show your city on your profile and map.
  • Push notification token: only if you grant notification permissions.

Automatically: Supabase service logs (IP address, timestamps) retained 7 days for security purposes only.

2. How we use your data

  • To authenticate you (magic link via email).
  • To display your content to your partner or friend group only.
  • To send real-time updates within your group.
  • To send push notifications (if enabled).
  • To provide weather information via Open-Meteo (no personal data shared).

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any third-party commercial purpose.

3. Who we share your data with

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. We use the following sub-processors to operate Milee:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, file storage (EU/US)
  • Resend — transactional email for magic links (US)
  • Expo Push Service — push notifications (US)
  • Open-Meteo — weather, no personal data (EU)
  • BigDataCloud — reverse geocoding, no personal data (EU)

4. Data retention

Your data is retained while your account is active. After 24 months of inactivity, we will email you. If there is no response within 60 days, we will permanently delete your account and all associated data.

You can trigger immediate, permanent deletion at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:

  • Access: export your data (Settings → Account → Export my data)
  • Rectification: edit your profile anytime
  • Erasure: delete your account anytime
  • Portability: your export is in JSON format
  • Object or restrict processing: contact us at contact@getmilee.app
  • Lodge a complaint: with your local data protection authority

We respond to all requests within 30 days, free of charge.

6. Children

Milee is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

7. Security

  • All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
  • Data at rest is encrypted by Supabase (AWS infrastructure).
  • Photos are stored in a private bucket accessible only via signed URLs (1-hour expiry).
  • Row-level security ensures only your couple or friend group can access your shared data.
  • No passwords — authentication is via magic link only.
  • In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users within 72 hours.
